About

The concept of Career Women's Network of Macon originated with the Women in Management Committee of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.

According to members of the Committee, such a group would afford an opportunity for "Macon business and professional women" to gather for a regular luncheon, communicate with each other and hear a speaker talk on a topic of interest or concern.

In order to broaden the scope of the group, the Committee decided to make Career Women's Network of Macon an autonomous organization with its own set of by-laws and procedures.  CWN was founded in 1981 and was incorporated December 9, 1982 with Joanna Watson as the first President of CWN. The very first CWN meeting was held on October 9, 1982. The organization currently operates through an 18 member Board of Directors.
